Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 4 cups chicken broth (low sodium preferred)
- 1 bay leaf (optional)
- 2 cloves garlic, smashed (optional)
- 1/4 medium onion, quartered (optional)
- 1 tsp salt, or to taste
- 1/2 tsp black pepper, or to taste
Instructions
- Rinse and pat dry chicken breasts. Trim any fat.
- Place chicken, broth, bay leaf, garlic, onion, salt, and pepper in a large pot. Ensure chicken is fully submerged.
- Bring to a gentle boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
