Description

Ingredients

  • For the Cake:
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup sour cream (full-fat)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • For the Cinnamon Swirl:
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 ½ tbsp ground cinnamon
  • For the Cream Cheese Glaze:
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • 1. Prep Oven & Pan: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • 2. Combine Dry & Wet: In a large bowl, whisk flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk melted butter, milk, sour cream, eggs, and vanilla. Add wet to dry; mix until just combined.
  • 3. Assemble Swirl Layers: In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon for the swirl. Pour half the cake batter into the pan, spread, and sprinkle with half the cinnamon mixture. Dollop remaining batter, spread gently, then sprinkle with the rest of the cinnamon mixture. Swirl gently with a knife.
  • 4. Bake Cake: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 15-20 minutes.
  • 5. Make & Glaze: Beat softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth for the glaze. Spread over the warm-but-not-hot cake. Serve warm or at room temperature.
