Description

This quick and easy cherry tomato spaghetti sauce delivers incredible flavor with minimal effort. Sweet, burst cherry tomatoes combine with garlic and basil for a vibrant, irresistible pasta topping.


Ingredients

  • 2 Pints (about 4 cups) cherry or grape tomatoes, halved
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, or to taste
  • Pasta of choice, for serving

Instructions

  • In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Do not brown.
  • Add halved cherry tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Increase heat to medium-high.
  • Cook, stirring occasionally, for 8-10 minutes until tomatoes burst and release their juices.
  • Gently smash some of the tomatoes with the back of a spoon or a potato masher to thicken the sauce.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer for another 10-15 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
  • Remove from heat and stir in fresh basil. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Serve immediately over your favorite pasta.
