Description

Unlock the best flavor with this step-by-step cherry tomato spaghetti sauce recipe. It’s easy to make and bursting with fresh, vibrant taste.

Ingredients

  • 2 pints (about 4 cups) cherry tomatoes
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped or torn
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground, or to taste
  • Pasta of your choice, for serving
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions

  • 1. Prepare Ingredients: Wash cherry tomatoes. Mince garlic.
  • 2. Sauté Aromatics: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn.
  • 3. Simmer Tomatoes: Add cherry tomatoes, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir to coat. Cover and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tomatoes soften and burst.
  • 4. Mash and Finish: Uncover the skillet. Use the back of a wooden spoon or a potato masher to gently crush the tomatoes to your desired consistency. Stir in fresh basil. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  • 5. Serve: Toss with your favorite cooked pasta, adding a splash of pasta water if needed for silkiness. Serve immediately with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
