  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped + extra for garnish
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1/4 cup dry red wine or vegetable broth

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet or pot over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened, 5-7 minutes.
