Ingredients
- 2 pints (about 4 cups) cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 5–6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped, plus more for garnish
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground, or to taste
Instructions
- 1. Prepare Ingredients: Halve cherry tomatoes, mince garlic, and chop basil.
- 2. Sauté Aromatics: In a large skillet or saucepan, heat olive oil over medium-low heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to brown the garlic.
- 3. Cook Tomatoes: Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the pan. Increase heat to medium-high. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes, or until the tomatoes have softened and burst, releasing their juices.
- 4. Finish Sauce: Remove from heat. Stir in the chopped fresh basil, salt, and black pepper. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Serve immediately with your favorite pasta.
