Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs (about 4 cups) cherry or grape tomatoes
- 3–4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a little kick)
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, plus more to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus more to taste
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn or roughly chopped
Instructions
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium-low heat. Add sliced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using); sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden.
- Add the cherry tomatoes to the pan. Season with salt and pepper. Increase heat to medium. Cook, stirring occasionally and gently pressing on the tomatoes with the back of a spoon, for 8-12 minutes until most have burst and released their juices.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for another 5-10 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and flavors to meld.
- Remove from heat. Stir in the fresh basil leaves. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Serve immediately over your favorite pasta.
