Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs (about 4 cups) cherry tomatoes, whole
- 4–5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, adjust to taste)
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- 1. Prep Ingredients: Wash tomatoes; mince garlic; chop basil.
- 2. Sauté Aromatics: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn.
- 3. Cook Tomatoes: Add whole cherry tomatoes to the pan. Increase heat to medium-high. Cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tomatoes burst and form a sauce. Gently mash some with a spoon for a thicker consistency.
- 4. Add Basil: Remove from heat and stir in fresh basil.
- 5. Season: Season generously with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve hot with your favorite pasta.
