These delightful no-bake treats reimagine a childhood classic with the deep, nutty flavor of black sesame paste. They’re perfectly crispy, chewy, and irresistibly unique.
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 10 oz (approx. 40 large or 6 cups mini) marshmallows
- 4 tbsp black sesame paste
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 6 cups crispy rice cereal
- Optional: 1 tbsp toasted black sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- 1. Prepare Pan: Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper or foil, leaving an overhang. Lightly grease.
- 2. Melt Butter & Marshmallows: In a large pot, melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until 75-80% melted. Remove from heat.
- 3. Stir in Flavorings: Quickly stir in black sesame paste and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
- 4. Combine with Cereal: Add rice cereal to the pot. Using a buttered spatula, gently fold until evenly coated.
- 5. Press into Pan: Transfer mixture to the prepared pan. Press gently and evenly with a buttered spatula or damp hands. Sprinkle with optional toasted black sesame seeds.
- 6. Cool & Cut: Allow to cool completely at room temperature (1-2 hours). Lift from pan and cut into squares.
