In the Kitchen Garden we are racing around like busy ants trying to capture every last bit of summer’s glory before it fades away into the crisp days and cold nights of Autumn. Where we live, Indian Summer breaths its last bit of fire into the chill of Autumnal days and the clear blue, breezy days of summer give way to the violent precursors to winter–strong winds, icy rains and cold grey days. Still, Autumn holds many clear, brisk days just perfect for picnics, and outings. Many vegetables remain in the gardens and with a little care we can prolong our enjoyment of these fresh treasures into the steppes of winter. Here, then, is a brief list of the things we enjoy in The Kitchen Garden during the Autumn:
